How to install an echobee4 smart thermostat?

The installation of this thermostat is pretty straight forward, but the full installation depends on what your current thermostat setup is like. I thought my installation would have been “hard.” In reality, following the included instructions, I didn’t feel overwhelmed at all. Installation went pretty quickly. Will this smart thermostat work in my older home?

Generally it comes down to the furnace that you have in your home. My home was built in the 70’s, but I have a high efficiency furnace so it worked for mine without issue. Thankfully ecobee has a comparability helper to see if you furnace will work. ecobee Compatability Checker

Why is this smart thermostat better then others for older homes?

I feel the biggest advantage of this smart thermostat over most of the others is the ability to add room sensors to your thermostat. So in my older home, the insulation isn’t done as well as new homes. So one side of my home is always colder then the other. I have a sensor set up in the cold area and I have the thermostat using that as the main temperature. So I know that part of the house will always be the temperature I want. Is the smart phone app and online app easy to use?

It is really easy, both the ecobee4 interface and then phone apps look the exact same. So it becomes really easy to learn.

Do you ever experience wifi connection issues on your ecobee4?

The connectivity is amazing in my experience. To this day the only connection issue I have had is when the houses power went out! Hah – can’t blame that on the ecobee. Other than that, I have always been able to connect to it from my phone anytime I needed to with no issue.
